  • Dear:

It's absolutely none of my business and I shouldn't send anything to you.

    So I'll keep it quick:

    1. Christopher was your best friend. And yes, I helped mess that up. I am sorry for all the things I did and said. I can't take them back and I won't, but I will say I'm sorry because I was wrong. But a friendship should be bigger than some dumb girl. Especially when she promises, after she sends this message, to stay so far out of it you'll forget I even exist.

I don't believe it was entirely me, but it isn't my business to know and so I can only speak to what I can be certain of. From my perspective: there's no reason you couldn't be friends. Yes, he changed some. So did you I would guess. Of course it can't be the way it used to be. That doesn't mean you throw it away entirely. That's called whimping out, as far as I'm concerned.

But as I said: none of my business.

    2. Districts are tomorrow I think. Good luck times twenty five, plus twenty. Not that you need it. But when it's sincere - as this particular one is - it never hurts.

    Katie

    3. Whatever it is you chose to do, which my guess is: continue on as you were, don't tell him I sent you anything.

  • My gerbils got fat. Awfully awfully fat, piggy gerbils. They spin the wheel much slower now. They're chewing away at their wooden houses right now.

I didn't want gerbils to turn eighteen.

    Dear Clementine, Dear Charlotte,

Gerbils really do seem like the silver lining.

    Love from the mistaken,

    Katie

  • What is your definition of love?

    Dear

Love is multifaceted. I love cream cheese on my bagels. I also love my very best friend even when she is wrong. I love the smells of penguins and I love Bruce Springsteen's music.

    But.

To love somebody is the ultamite selfless feeling. At eighteen years old and a member of hte most selfish demographic you just can't comprehend that feeling. I'm sorry I'm sure that prom date is cute, but you are not in love with him.

And if in five to ten years he's still around, let me point out rule number two:

You can't fall in love alone.

It violates nature, and so such victims of one sided affairs are pathetic deeply unsatisfied and wasted. It's the punishment.

You can't dream for another person if they don't notice you, or don't care the same, or just plain don't want you. You can dream about them, and lust and longing are powerful oh I know.

    But to dream for them?

    Don't play with fire baby.

Love, deeply, sincerely, purely, devotededly, yours,

    Katie

  • Dear Tired

I've got to hand it to you: you've officially seeped in to each and every one of my bones. My blood pumps your poison throughout my body. I have a world lit paper to write dammit!

So very frustrated, with love too,

    Katie

  • If you were an FDA approved drug, what would your possible side effects include?

    DIRECTIONS

    Careful, careful.

    Slowly people. Cautiously people.

Delicate woman. Touch and she jumps. Touch and she might scream.

Don't touch and she'll forget you.

If you become involved, she might not be aware.

If you try to involve her, it would take baby snail steps, tiptoeing softly.

    Careful, gentle slow.

Sudden movements, feelings, words, can excite and potentially rupture the connections.

    She would just leave.

    SIDE EFFECTS

She's loud. Be sure to book that appointment with the sign language tutor, because you'll be using it before you hit forty.

You will see yellow. It won't hide in the flowers and the sun and faces. Not from you it won't - she'll make sure you don't let it get away.

She will ask you questions. There is the potential for dizziness from the circles she talks you in the poetic she waxes and the dreams she pulls out of your lips before you catch them. They might not be even real but there is a deman for words. You forgot who you were. You will remember that she has no business caring though.

There is the potential to leave her.
